It is that time of year again when we start to search out new Board Members for the next year.  Reflecting on my last 3 years as a Board Member, I can honestly say it has benefitted me in many ways.  I have met new friends, I have gained and strengthened my skills, and I have expanded my perspective of volunteerism.  I have had the opportunity to attend outstanding leadership training, meet with others who truly care about the HR profession, and received a  new outlook on the SHRM organization. I have truly enjoyed these past 3 years and will continue to be involved in future years.

I ask each of you to think about becoming a board member or a volunteer on a committee.  It does take some time and some work, but the rewards are great.  Please read the attached article written by our Publicity Chair, Patrick Rita.  I think he captures the essence of volunteerism.

If you are interested, attached is an interest form.  Please fill it out and return to one of our Board Members at our meeting on January 31 or email it to, our Work Force Readiness Chair.
