    Title: Employment Law in a Changing World:  What’s New?  What’s Next? Why Bother?
    Ms. Harvey will highlight recent developments in employment law, including (but not limited to) the current status of the new FLSA regulations (and any pending litigation regarding those regulations), the EEOC and judicial expansion of sex discrimination under Title VII to include prohibitions on discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity (and the implications of such expansion on the workplace), and foreseeable changes in EEOC practice and strategy in the new era of the Trump administration,  Attendees should be sure to bring your “hypothetical” HR questions and experiences for discussion with the group.

    Speaker: Carmon Harvey: Carmon M. Harvey focuses her practice on employment litigation and counseling, including wage and hour issues, hiring, firing, employee discipline, federal and state discrimination laws, sexual and other prohibited harassment, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), trade secrets and non-compete agreements, and grievance arbitration.

    She also counsels institutions of higher education regarding faculty, student, administrative, and compliance matters, including faculty promotion and tenure proceedings, Title IX compliance, and university and faculty policies and procedures.

    Ms. Harvey also regularly counsels clients regarding commercial disputes and handles a broad array of commercial litigation.
